Thursday Afternoon Five-Week Stained Glass Course (Starting 10 September 2026)

Learn traditional stained glass in a small, friendly studio in the Peak District.

Dates of course: 10, 17, 24 September, 1, 8 October (1-3:30pm)

Bank Vale Mill, Hayfield

Whether you're completely new to stained glass or have some previous experience, these weekly classes allow you to develop your skills over five weeks while working at your own pace.

Each session lasts 2½ hours, giving plenty of time to learn techniques and complete projects.

What you'll learn

During the course you'll receive tuition in:

  • Safe glass cutting

  • Traditional leaded stained glass

  • Copper foil (Tiffany) stained glass

  • Soldering techniques

  • Design and pattern preparation

  • Finishing techniques

Returning students can also progress to:

  • Glass painting

  • Silver stain

  • Enamels

  • More advanced projects

Suitable for

  • Complete beginners

  • Improvers

  • Returning students wishing to develop their skills

Course Details

  • Five weekly sessions

  • 2½ hours per session

  • Small class sizes (maximum of 4)

  • Individual tuition

  • £100 for the five-week block

  • Booking is for the complete course (individual sessions cannot be booked separately).

Materials

Tuition is included.

Some workshop materials and consumables are provided.

Glass, lead, copper foil, solder and other project materials are charged separately according to what you use. You are also welcome to bring suitable glass from home.

Please note: as the course uses lead products it is not suitable for those who are pregnant or breastfeeding. The studio is on the first floor of an old paper mill and access is via a short staircase, unfortunately there is no lift. No refunds will be given for courses cancelled within 6 weeks of booking however, for missed sessions if there is space on an other course we will do our best to fit you in.
