Spend a creative day exploring the beautiful world of fused glass in this hands-on fused glass experience at my studio.
This is a relaxed and inspiring introduction to fused glass, suitable for beginners and those with some previous experience who would like to explore new techniques. Rather than following a set project, you’ll be guided through a range of processes, giving you the confidence to experiment with colour, texture and design.
During the day, I’ll introduce you to the different types of glass used for fusing, how to cut and handle glass safely, and the various techniques used to create fused glass pieces. You’ll explore both hard-edged techniques, creating defined shapes and patterns, as well as softer, more organic approaches using frits (small pieces of coloured glass) to build layers of colour and texture.
You’ll have the opportunity to design and create your own fused glass bowl, learning how to arrange your glass pieces and develop your own unique design. Alongside your bowl, you’ll also create 2 additional fused glass pieces, such as Christmas decorations or glass whimsies, allowing you to try different approaches and take home a selection of handmade creations.
The experience runs from 10.00am until 2.30pm, with a half-hour break for lunch. All materials are included, and tea, coffee and refreshments will be available throughout the day. Please bring lunch.
