Relearning and mistakes
Been spending a bit of time relearning some techniques where I had become a little bit lazy. It’s easy to become complacent and think ‘that will do’. My painting has become clunky, it’s never been brilliant, I mean, I am no Matisse but it was certainly a…lot…better. It’s easy also to keep adding layers and do multiple firings but that’s just time consuming and not very earth friendly.
Also, being self-taught meant that I had missed out on the little techniques that you don’t find in the books so having been on a day course at the Stained Glass museum with the very knowledgeable Derek Hunt, I am back to painting better.
