SOLD Bauhaus Bowl (blue)
This Blue Bauhaus Fused Glass bowl is an individual made piece of fused glass artwork made in my artisan studio in the Peak District.
This is a one off piece made by individually cutting each glass shape and fusing them together in my kiln to form a circle and then slumped into a mould, a process done over a couple of days to allow the piece to cool between firings in the kiln.
My inspiration comes from the Bauhaus movement of the 1930s when modernist design was just starting and the coming together of artisans from different disciplines leading to a unique style of art and crafts and giving rise to the Brutalist movement of the 1950s and 60s.
This bowl is 30cm in diameter and 6mm thick and a real ‘statement piece’ for your home.
As the bottom is cylindrical the bowl can spin on its axis and will refract light into the room.
